No Brewery in Hall Park
Protecting Our “A” Class Reserve
Hall Park is one of Mandurah’s most treasured public spaces – a place where families picnic, children play, and our community gathers for events. It is an “A” Class Reserve, meaning it is meant to be permanently protected for public use and environmental preservation.
Turning part of Hall Park into a commercial brewery would set a dangerous precedent. Once you allow private commercial development on an “A” Class Reserve, you weaken the very protections that keep these spaces special. These reserves belong to everyone – not private business interests.
If I am elected Mayor, my first priority will be to bring a motion to Council to revoke the previous decision that allowed a brewery in Hall Park. I will do this as an urgent matter, in the very first instance, after I am elected.
However, I cannot do this alone – the motion will only pass if the majority of Councillors support it. That is why I urge residents to vote for candidates who will stand with me in protecting Hall Park and keeping “A” Class Reserves for the people.
An “A” Class Reserve should stay as “A” Class. Hall Park is for the people – and that is where it must remain.
